Today, Tiffany Smith, the young widow of Senior Airman Bradley Smith, and baby daughter Chloe came to see Michael. It was a bittersweet moment as these young people, whose lives intersect at the same tragic moment, met and embraced for the first time since Bradley's death. We had a wonderful visit and had the chance to spend some quiet, private time together. Sadly, Michael's recent surgery and the swelling it caused has left him unable to speak so he was forced to revert to the clipboard again. Nevertheless, he was able to express his feelings.

After Tiffany left, we met with some folks that provided some valuable information about the Palo Alto facility. From what we can see, Michael will be able to tap into the latest resources and training available. We have yet to know just when this move will be possible as we are waiting for his eyelids to get well enough.
We're looking forward to his being able to talk again. It's been a real downer to have a setback (although it's a minor one).

I met with Tiffany not long after you all had your visit. I continue to pray for Mike's recovery and hope that he and your family make a great recovery. Should you need anything while you are here and if Mike need's anything at all please let me know...
ReplyDeleteWhat a precious moment in time, so filled with love. I know it must have been wonderful for Tiffany and Chloe to hug Michael and see him. I wish we could all see and hug all three of them.
ReplyDeleteI just want to let you all know (again)that we read Michael's blog often for updates, and like everyone else, we cry with every progress as well as with every setback. We are looking forward to him being transferred to Palo Alto where we will have an opportunity to visit him.
Please let Michael know he is always in our thoughts and prayers.
