Michael was deployed from Fort Riley, KS to Afghanistan the first week of December 2009. He was stationed at FOB Wilson, near Kandahar. On January 3, 2010, while on a routine foot patrol, he was seriously injured by an IED. The same event claimed the lives of his Air Force companion and three soldiers from Fort Carson, CO.
This blog chronicles the events of Michael's life from his injury to the present day. He is now the author of this blog; is married, is a father and lives in Texas with his guide dog, Xxon. His injuries are now healed, he is retired from the U.S. Air Force and is planning on what to do for his next adventure.

Progress on the House...

I was able to talk with Tilson and got a little update on the progress of the house. We haven't made a trip recently so there won't be any pictures to share. There will be plenty of those next month though.

So here's the news...

Tomorrow the painters should be getting in to start painting the walls and the trim. The cabinets should be showing up tomorrow and everything else is hinging on those getting installed.
Once those are done the tile will start being put in and by next week the garage door will be in place.
By the end of the month they will be trucking dirt in to start leveling the outside out and by this time the counters will all be in place.

It is amazing to see, or at least hear, how fast things are all coming together. Jesse is constantly uncomfortable and ready to have this boy out already!
Next month is going to be a crazy one for sure but we are very very excited about it!
