Michael was deployed from Fort Riley, KS to Afghanistan the first week of December 2009. He was stationed at FOB Wilson, near Kandahar. On January 3, 2010, while on a routine foot patrol, he was seriously injured by an IED. The same event claimed the lives of his Air Force companion and three soldiers from Fort Carson, CO.
This blog chronicles the events of Michael's life from his injury to the present day. He is now the author of this blog; is married, is a father and lives in Texas with his guide dog, Xxon. His injuries are now healed, he is retired from the U.S. Air Force and is planning on what to do for his next adventure.

Wedding Announcment

The wedding was amazing!  Michael and Jesse are long gone on their way to Utah for Michaels speaking engagement with Steve Young and then they are on their way on the their honeymoon! Other than a little wind the weather was great and the food was very good.  Michael was so handsome in his blues and Jesse looked so pretty in her dress! The wedding was perfect and it was such a great day of celebration!  The open house is at my parents house and anyone who wants to come is invited to attend. Michael has met so many new friends through this blog since he was injured and we wanted everyone to know how much we appreciate it. The open house will be held in the evening from 7-9pm.  Like Michael said in his previous post if anyone needs the address or directions please contact Michael through his email! We love you Michael and Jesse and we are so happy for you both and sweet little Kadence! There will be plenty more pictures to come!
