Jesse's mom Felisa came into town at the end of last week to help us out and get ready for the baby. Jesse had an appointment to be induced tomorrow and we were getting everything in order.
My mom flew into town on Monday evening to stay with us for a while to help us adjust to the new baby as well. She plans on hanging around until we are able to get into the new house.
As anyone who has been around a pregnant woman knows, the last few weeks of pregnancy are less than pleasant. Jesse was never comfortable and always starving. As soon as she hit full term she just wanted that baby outta there.
The baby was just waiting for the right moment. Monday night right around midnight Jesse started having contractions. She started timing them to see if they were real this time around and at 12:20 she woke me up to let me know what was going on. We just sat and waited for ten more minutes then Jesse decided to wake her mom up just in case. The plan was to have my mom stay with the girls and have hers drive us to the hospital when it was time.
We decided not to risk it since Jesse had such fast labors and soon after we headed for the hospital at SAMMC. As we drove it became clear, mostly to Jesse, that this was indeed the real deal.
Her mom dropped us off at the door and went to park the car. We asked the folks at the ER for a wheelchair and Jesse sat
down to wait for someone to come push her up to the fifth floor. Talented as I may be, pushing her in a wheelchair was a feat I wasn't willing to try. woman in labor are not to be trifled with, which was confirmed to me when i leaned toward her to offer comfort and her response was,
"DOn't get near me."
I just stood up and smiled to myself. Labor makes my wife funny.
We got into the room around 1:30 and nurses checked Jesse and determined that it was go time right then. At 2:05, after IV's had been started and everything was prepared we welcomed Jack Nolan Malarsie to our family. 19.5 inches long and 7.4lbs.
I must say, Jesse knows how to have a baby and doesn't waste any time. Only two hours from first contraction until I was cutting the umbilical cord myself. With help of course, I wasn't going to risk cutting the wrong piece off my only son you know.
Everything went great and mom and baby are doing awesome. They were able to come home this morning and somehow Jack is managing to sleep through the squeals and pokes from his older sisters.
We are so grateful for the support our family has been to us. There is nothing quite like a couple of grandmas to come in and make everything easier for us. After the Walter Reed and Palo Alto experience my dad is always worried that we are going to steal my mom for months again. He always makes sure to remind us that we need to thank him as well as my mom for the help.
Jack has already had about 45,000 pictures taken so I am sure his mother will post some here for you all.
We are so grateful to have this little boy join our family!God has been truly great to our family!
