Michael was deployed from Fort Riley, KS to Afghanistan the first week of December 2009. He was stationed at FOB Wilson, near Kandahar. On January 3, 2010, while on a routine foot patrol, he was seriously injured by an IED. The same event claimed the lives of his Air Force companion and three soldiers from Fort Carson, CO.
This blog chronicles the events of Michael's life from his injury to the present day. He is now the author of this blog; is married, is a father and lives in Texas with his guide dog, Xxon. His injuries are now healed, he is retired from the U.S. Air Force and is planning on what to do for his next adventure.

Pictures of the House

We got to head up to the house today and we are excited to see how close things are getting to being finished!

The wood floors are done as well as the trim. The carpets, lights, sinks, and toilets, are all still waiting their turn but everything else inside the house is finished, at least as far as I can tell.

It's been pretty rainy so it's muddy outside which is delaying the fill dirt from being brought in but that's not stopping them from digging the hole for the septic tank.

It is a beautiful home and we are excited beyond belief!

Since a picture is worth 1000 words I'm going to stop writing and just post some pics! Enjoy!
