Michael was deployed from Fort Riley, KS to Afghanistan the first week of December 2009. He was stationed at FOB Wilson, near Kandahar. On January 3, 2010, while on a routine foot patrol, he was seriously injured by an IED. The same event claimed the lives of his Air Force companion and three soldiers from Fort Carson, CO.
This blog chronicles the events of Michael's life from his injury to the present day. He is now the author of this blog; is married, is a father and lives in Texas with his guide dog, Xxon. His injuries are now healed, he is retired from the U.S. Air Force and is planning on what to do for his next adventure.

Random little pieces...

The day after we got back from CT was my niece's 2 year birthday part. We were able to hang out with a bunch of family and their friends. I had to make sure Xxon stayed away from the inflatable pool. He wanted in the water pretty bad. We had a great time and just want to say Happy Birthday Eden!

We had to run an errand and when Jess went to get out of the car this is the scene that greeted her:
apparently Xxon enjoys the comfort of a leather seat as opposed to the back where he is supposed to be. We had forgotten that the seat was even up.
Good news! We finally have orders! We will be heading to San Antonio next month! We are very excited to get into a normal routine, a normal life and to get settled.
